Applicant Process

The next scheduled testing dates for the position of Deputy Sheriff Candidate will take place on Saturday, October 11 and Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 0815-1115hrs in the EOB cafeteria (101 Monroe Street). Applicants are encouraged to reserve a testing slot via the Office of Human Resources, but may also “walk in.” Applicants should review the list of minimum requirements and ensure that they have a driver’s license or other valid government identification the day of testing.

The Sheriff's Office is first Sheriff's Office in the State of Maryland to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The Sheriff's Office received its initial accreditation in November of 1995 and underwent successful on site re-evaluations in 2000, 2003, and 2006, 2009 and most recently in 2012. In order to receive and maintain accreditation, the Sheriff's Office has to demonstrate voluntarily that they meet over 4 6 0 professionally recognized standards for excellence in management and service delivery.
